Education
- 1989 - 1994
Secondary School, Bilikova 24, Bratislava
-
My first meeting with computers and programming.
During my study I bought a computer and learnt programming languages
BASIC, Prolog, Pascal, Assembler and C. I only made my programs for PC's
MS-DOS operating system.
Every year I made a software project for SOC (High school activity)
and three times I was the first in Bratislava and got in republic
competition. The fourth time I got special award of President's Office
for the most original project (project "Environment Makers").
I finished the school with the best marks from mathematics,
physics, informatics and slovak language in the final examination.
| since 1994 |
Faculty of Electrical and Software Engineering, Slovak University of Technology |
| 1994 |
Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, University of Komensky |
-
I started parallel studying at FMPh and FESE because I could
not make decision which faculty is better for me. After successful
finishing of first semester I found that FESE is closer to my nature.
As a student I have to work with UNIX operating system and I like it very much.
- May 1998
-
I was awarded Runner Up Prize at the Younger members' papers Competition
at the Eastern and Central European Weekend of Institution of Electrical Engineers in Weimar, Germany.
- September 1998
I took a bachelor's degree in software.
-
After four-years study I took my first degree and
continue in master level of study at Faculty of Electrical and Software
Engineering, Slovak University of Technology.
- Spetember 1999
Paper for TSD'99
-
My paper about computer analysis of natural language was accepted for the
presentation at the Text,Speech and Dialogue '99 conference and was
published in Springer-Verlag Lecture Notes in Computer Science edition.
Name of the paper is Performing adaptive morphological analysis using Internet resources.
- February 2000
I took master degree in software (Ing.)
-
After additional one-and-half-years study I finalize my study at Faculty of Electrical and Software
Engineering, Slovak University of Technology.
My diploma thesis was Spell and Grammer checking of Slovak Language by Computer.
- Since March 2000
PhD. Student
-
I am regular PhD. student since March 2000 at Faculty of Electrical and Software Engineering, Slovak University of Technology.
Qualification
- Since
January 1999
I have started my own business
-
At the beginning of 1999 I've become a
self-employed software developer and consultant. I work for several software
companies including UI42, BitMedia,
DITEC/Wedia and others. My most interesting projects were implementations
of information systems for publishing newspapers on the web.
I implemented system using XML and a Perl programming language
under Windows NT operating system.
Currently two daily newspapers runs on that system, and
others should become in a near future.
Narodna Obroda and
the biggest economic newspapers in Slovakia
Hospodarske noviny.
Especially HN supports many advanced features like online flash news,
automated graphs generation and intelligent error checking.
I fully programmed this system except of graphics and design.
I also developed complex multilanguage web-hosting/web-mail-hosting system for Wedia,
called Home.sk (http://www.home.sk)
and Mail@Home (http://mail.home.sk),
also complete programming except graphical design.
Another interesting project, also mentioned below, is Gurmania.
It is also written in Perl but under Linux OS and PostgreSQL database.
- November 1999 - February 2000
BitStudio Bratislava
-
I worked for BitStudio Bratislava as Project Manager for hardware/networking solutions.
Unfortunately this kind of job was mostly sales/business-oriented and finally I found
not the best choice for me.
- May 1997 - December 1998
GraTex International
-
I have joined GraTex shortly after leaving WOC. My first project was SQL documentation tool, called BeautySQL. In August 1997 I finished this work
and have been moved into other site - Borsa - where I joined new special project.
My primary task here was to develop an Active Directory Service Provider using OLE DB interface to MS SQL Server
for special purposes of our project.
We primarily work with a MS SQL Server 7.0 (beta), WinNT 4.0 and 5.0 beta using COM/OLE technology to create
components by MS Visual C++ 6.0 and sometimes also MS Visual Basic 6.0. It was interesting project with a huge
of newest (and sometimes under development) technologies and resources.
I left Gratex at the end of 1998 to establish my own business.
- April 1996 - March 1997
West Ost Connection Ltd.( branch of Assyst GmBH. )
-
I have started to work in WOC after leaving Finsat. I work here as a
programmer also in C/C++. But I work here with HP workstations (PA-RISC)
instead of PC. We use there only HP-UX (UNIX - like system from HP).
My first individual testing task was to connect HP ScanJet 3c scanner to
HP workstation and make a driver and software interface for scanning
pictures. I had to communicate with scanner through low-level SCSI
programming interface so I had to learn about hardware and software
principles of SCSI bus. I complete my task successful, I obtained
some pictures from the scanner and I am of course very proud of my work.
I made also daemon that allows and for allowing scanning over the network.
Then I was working on Scan Dialog in X Windows/Motif. This now works as
stand-alone application and as module included in Fashion Designer Project too.
While working on that I made Object Motif Library, that encapsulates Motif
widgets and its callbacks into C++ classes.
Along my main tasks I work on special database access modules for AGM and
FDP projects over Allbase/SQL database.
Another interesting task was writing a X Windows driver for Wacom tablet.
- July 1995 - April 1996
FINSAT Ltd.
-
I worked in Finsat company as a programmer in C/C++ for UNIX and Windows.
I have obtained a lot of experiences here. I learnt SQL databases,
MS-Windows programming and object-oriented programming in C++ language
there. My tasks were related to databases, such as computing stock market indexes
for Slovak and Czech capital markets, transfering data from QNX database to
Windows SQL Server, make feeder for input stocks rates from teletext to
database, create program for automatic verifying and repairing bugs in
financial values, exporting data for BBS etc.
Other Activities:
- November 1996 - September 1997
- I maintain and develop List of restaurants,
pubs and disco-clubs in Bratislava on my Web site.
- Since September 1997
- We have founded civil association GURMANIA and I create stand-alone web-site www.gurmania.sk
contained extended List of restaurants and pubs in Slovakia.
- Since February 1997
- I am a member of MENSA Slovakia.
- March - April 1997
- I designed commercial Canadian Web site Building Permit homepage
- Since April 1998
- I am a student member of IEE (Institute of Electrical Engineers)
- Since February 1999
- I established a Slovak Perl Web Site
at www.perl.sk.
Working Experiences:
- Operating Systems:
- MS-DOS, MS Windows, MS Windows NT, HP-UX, Linux, Ultrix
- Programming Languages:
- C/C++, Perl, Prolog, Basic, Java, Pascal, Assembler, Lisp
- Technologies:
- GUI programming (both, MS-Windows and Motif/X-Windows)
SQL databases
COM technology (OLE/ActiveX)
XML
Internet, Web development, HTML, ASP, PHP, scripting (both Windows and Unix)
- Preferred Platform:
- Microsoft Windows NT, IIS, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Developer Studio, ActiveState Perl or
- Linux, Apache, PostgreSQL and Perl
Other skills:
- Languages:
- English
- Russian partially
- Driving licence:
- Valid driving licence since 1998
Interests:
My hobbies are programming, music and books.
And I like travel too.
I am interested especially in new and progressive technologies, like Internet and World Wide Web,
Perl,Java, COM/OLE and others.
I am also interested in artifical intelligence and natural language processing.
I want to learn as much as possible, because I understand that Knowledge is the key for future.
